David Cotterill will arrive at the Liberty next Saturday looking for revenge for the 'most embarrassing defeat" of his career

Cotterill scored the only goal for a Bristol City side humiliated 7-1 at the Liberty four years ago - a defeat that he says was worse for him because of his Cardiff roots.

And he will be out to right the wrongs of that afternoon when he arrives with his high flying Sheffield United team mates looking to build on an impressive start to the season that sees the Blades flying high in 5th place in the Championship table.

Cotterill said "That defeat was the most embarrassing of my career.  Swansea were scoring every time they went forward.

"I scored a nice goal that afternoon but it didn't matter.  All I got was a sarcastic cheer from the Bristol fans.

"It was humiliating.   Every side loses games but you don't lose 7-1.   It was even worse for me because I'm from Cardiff.

"The abuse I was getting from the Swansea fans was bad at 0-0 so you can imagine what it was like when we were 6-0 down!

"I was only 17 at the time and it was a nightmare afternoon, something you never forget.

"I haven't played at the Liberty since.   I went there last season with Sheffield United but I was a substitute and I didn't come on.

"I really hope I'm involved this time because I'd love to make amends by helping us get three points.

"I'd love to get the winner.  That would put things straight.

"We've got a really strong squad.   Losing the play off final last season has made us determined to go one better this time."
