Jenkins Dismisses Talk Of Bothroyd Move

Swansea Chairman Huw Jenkins has added his voice to the reports he had made a bid for Jay Bothroyd

The Swansea City Chairman said that the reported bid of yesterday was nothing of the sort and just part of a regular conversation he was having with Cardiff City manager Dave Jones.

He told the Evening Post "I have spoken to about 40 different managers about 100 different players

"I phoned Dave Jones the other week — we speak quite regularly — and we talked about what players he was looking to move on.

"We spoke about Warren Feeney and then I mentioned Bothroyd because I know Paulo likes him.

"I asked him what they valued the player at and he told me they want £3.5million.

"I said to him 'He's a bit out of our league then' and that was the end of it.

"There has been no bid or anything like that and nothing has been discussed."

The Evening Post also suggested that the discussion may have been more around Cardiff striker Warren Feeney rather than Bothroyd whilst Shefki Kuqi is a name very much seemingly on the Swans radar with the Post stating that his representatives held talks with Jenkins this week.

And while discussion yesterday was around Bothroyd, Huw's words - added to those of the player and his own Chairman yesterday who declared he would sell none of his players to Swansea City - suggest that the Swans key interest remains very much elsewhere.
