Brendan Rodgers insists that Fabio Borini has not yet decided on his future despite reports from Italy

The Swansea City manager was responding to reports from Parma that they had conluded a deal for the on loan Chelsea striker to sign him - whatever the result on Monday at Wembley.

Rodgers told the Evening Post "I spoke with Fabio last week and he is loving it here, and I think it's going to be a case of waiting and seeing as far as his future goes.

"I know there's interest from Parma and I would expect interest from a number of clubs.

"But at the moment he is enjoying his football and his life here and we will review things at the end of the season. Until then, we won't know where we are.

"It's definitely not out of the question that Fabio will stay here," Rodgers added.

"The most important thing for a footballer is being happy, and he is happy here.

"He enjoys playing for this club, as you see with his passion on the pitch."

Rodgers believes a permanent switch to the Liberty Stadium could be the right move for Borini's development.

"As a young player, the next couple of years are going to be important for him," he continued.

"There's no doubt he could go to a number of big clubs, but the question is how much will he play if he does that.

"Is he going to be a No. 3 or No. 4 striker, or does he want to be a No. 1 striker who is playing games?

"I think part of the reason he came here in the first place was for me to help him. I have known him for a few years and I think he trusts me."

Rodgers also dismissed claims that he had made a move for Marvin Emnes by adding "I haven't spoken to (Boro boss) Tony Mowbray," he said.

"I know they may have to move some players on this summer and Marvin was a player we liked when he was here.

"But he is a Middlesbrough player at the moment so we can't speak too much about him unless I speak to Tony."
