McCormack out of Scotland squad
McCormack out of Scotland squad
Monday, 18th Nov 2013 18:17 by Tim Whelan

Ross McCormack has withdrawn from Scotland’s squad with a hamstring injury, but he still hopes to be fit to play against Middlesbrough on Saturday.

The Leeds striker was a late substitute against the United States on Friday night but a slight hamstring injury will prevent him from taking part in tomorrow night’s friendly in Norway, and he has come back to Leeds for treatment.

McCormack took to twitter to vend his frustration. “Heading back to Leeds having had to pull out the scotland squad. Typical!! Just need another 24 hours for this to settle. I’ll be fit for Boro 100%. And can’t wait for it.”

Typical indeed. When I first heard the news about his injury I thought it was just our luck when he was running into form, with the four he scored at Charlton making him the division’s leading striker with 11 goals this season. But it looks like the news isn’t as bad as we first feared, and he will be fit in time to face Middlesboro, ironically the club who tried to sign him earlier in the season, but who were rebuffed by our new owners.

Let’s hope he recovers in time to show the Teessiders exactly what they missed.
