Osvaldo In Allergic Reaction Scare
Monday, 18th Nov 2013 19:31

Saints striker Osvaldo has had a health scare after suffering an allergic reaction after being substituted during Italy's 1-1 draw with Germany on Friday.

Apparently shortly after the half time break in the game Osvaldo was struggling and was substituted, although he appeared to be in control as he walked off the pitch, as he made his way to the dressing room he suffered an allergic reaction which needed the Italian medical staff to inject him to stabilise the condition.

The Azzurri's medical staff disclosed information on Osvaldo's condition, revealing they had been forced to use injections in order to stabilise him.

Enrico Castellacci, part of the Italian staff told the Southampton Daily Echo:

"Osvaldo had a pretty strong allergic reaction, so he needed an anti-histamine injection.

"These reactions can be more or less damaging and it got worse as he left the pitch. His condition has since stabilised.

"There's nothing to worry about now but it will be wise for him to have some tests and find out what it is he's allergic to."

In the meantime Osvaldo seems to have now recovered and is expected to play some part in Italy's friendly against Nigeria at Craven Cottage on Tuesday evening, after that he will return to St Mary's where its expected the Club's medical staff will conduct further tests to see if they can discover what caused it on Friday and indeed what further treatment or medication may be required.
