Schneiderlin Wins First French Cap
Monday, 9th Jun 2014 08:04

Morgan Schneiderlin is now a full International after winning his first cap for France in their thrashing of Jamaica.

Morgan Schneiderlin has won his first cap for France after coming on as a substitute in their 8-0 win over Jamaica in Lille.

Although its great to see him get on the pitch the strange thing is just how few minutes he got, to be blunt the game was well over before he appeared in the 87th minute, indeed with the French 6-0 up just after the hour mark the game was finished as a contest and indeed as a test for the French team, the final half hour could be nothing other than a chance for the players to get more injuries.

Therefore this was a good chance to blood Schneiderlin and get him used to the pace of International football, giving him three minutes served nothing other than to give him a cap, yes he is very much a fringe player being such a late edition to the squad and therefore unlikely to get much game time in Brazil, but as England have found out over the years, you never know when injury or suspension might strike, you need to have experienced back ups in place.

Congratulations to Morgan though, its great to have another International on the books and indeed the first Saints man to get capped by France whilst he is at the Club making it a double celebration.

Having all these players at the World Cup and indeed playing international football for countries not in Brazil like Steven Davis does a lot to raise the club's profile, however as we know too well it also attracts the vultures to circle over the stadium.

He thoroughly deserves it, but the high profile is a double edged sword!

Yes, very pleased for Morgan, long overdue...but I had been hoping that France would continue to ignore him and that he might decide to qualify for England next season. Perhaps the rather ridiculously short debut in the circumstances was a deliberate decision to prevent him qualifying for us?

Really pleased for MS and his kind comments about the club, former managers and team mates that have all contributed in some small way in this magnificent achievement.
And another team for me to watch with interest in the world Cup
