Saints Oops I Mean England Beat The Scots Tuesday, 18th Nov 2014 22:49 A weakened Saints side defeated a Scotland side managed by ex Saints manager Gordon Strachan in Glasgow tonight. It was very much All Saints evening in Glasgow tonight as current St Mary's season ticket holder Roy Hodgson's England side beat Wee Gordon Strachan's XI 3-1. Two current Saints players in Fraser Forster & Nathaniel Clyne started the game augmented by ex Saint Alex Oxlade Chamberlain & Luke Shaw and in the second half there would be another two of our former players in Lambert & Lallana to make it six involved on the night and it could have been eight if Theo Walcott And Calum Chambers had been given a run from the bench. But perhaps the most significant fact was that six of those players have played for the club within the last six months or so. This meant that of the 22 England players on duty over a third have played for Saints, an incredible testament not just to our youth policy but our ability to spot a player's potential given that only Fraser Forster of the seven was signed for a significant fee for the club.
