There are more tickets on sale to Saints supporters as Manchester City are struggling to sell their allocation for our forthcoming fixture at St Mary's.

Manchester City as expected initially took the full 3,200 allocation for the forthcoming fixture, however due to the fact that the game has been moved to a Sunday lunchtime kick off they are struggling to shift the tickets resulting in them already admitting that they have no chance of selling the full amount even with 11 days to go before the game. Therefore they have returned block 43 to St mary's and these are now on sale to Saints supporters.

Strangely enough though there is no sign of our fixture on their website Saturday's game against Swansea is showing as sold out but there is a gap between their home game against Bayern Munich and Sunderland where we should be that is empty.

Perhaps they have given up trying to sell more, perhaps they have sold out the other blocks and don't want to put 43 on sale to their fans, if that was the case you would have thought they would have given it another few days before deciding.

Im sure that Manchester City being Premier league Champions these days see themselves as being able to rival their cross town old enemy Manchester United, the home support seems to be big with an average of around 45k but seemingly this isnt turning into travelling numbers as their rivals seem able to do.

Whilst paying £42 for an away ticket isn't cheap and then there is the hassle of a Sunday afternoon kick off, but Liverpool & United would have had no trouble taking the full allocation and selling it.

Perhaps this gives an example to Saints supporters about how wide the gap is between club's like Liverpool etc who are truly global and can fill away sections throughout the country against even a club the size of Manchester City who are struggling to do so.

The upside for Saints supporters is that no one now should be struggling to get a ticket with an extra 900 or so seats now on sale, with 11 days to go sales were healthy and heading to a full house, now there are a few more tickets on the market.

If you are planning on going get in fast, the weekend's games will go along way to shape the table and this game is looking to be a clash of 2nd V 3rd, who would have dreamed that at the start of the season.

TimSaint added 12:12 - Nov 20 Suppose it is understandable in a way, when it is an early kick off and on TV, but we keep hearing what a massive club City are and that they have more true fans than their red rivals. Therefore they should have sold out. On a different note, it was nice to see the result of the 2nd place play off last night, for the best team in Hampshire, behind the mighty Saints. :o)

mayo31 added 21:55 - Nov 21 So we are bringing 2300 down on a Sunday for a 1.30 kick off and you choose to laugh at fellow fans. Nevermind the time it takes to get there, the rubbish train times and the cost to contend with and it is on sky. That all forgotten. I cannot remember you lot ever selling out at maine road or the etihad. Lets see when you come for the last game of the season.

bluesmith added 22:53 - Nov 21 City were given 2500 tickets we had sold the lot by 12th November. If extra tickets had been offered those would have easily sold out in the remaining 18 days. And it not too bad considering the first train from Manchester doesn't get into Southampton till after 2pm

Mushty added 08:29 - Nov 22 Tbf, City have sold out the other sections but as Nick points out, other 'big' clubs would have shifted 3,200 pretty quickly in the circumstances. Yeah, we did sell out at the Etihad the first time we went there but the next 2 games have been on Sky. That first Sky game we had the top and bottom tiers and getting on for 2,500 with City charging us £51 a ticket. City are obviously a bigger club than us but they aint a United or scallies.

leve91 added 11:34 - Nov 25 City fan here. Personally i think 2300 for early kick off on a sunday at the other end of the country isn't a bad turnout! You are trying to compare two different things. Yes city have been doing well for 5 years but do you really think this translates into a growing nationwide support? When the scum and the scousers play you, yes they have some local support going , but any excess is snapped up from the many hundreds of thousands of fans they have in London and the south in general, for whom getting to Southampton by 1.30 and at a reasonable price isnt an issue. Another point, city's support is largely working class, and £42 for 90 minutes of football, and well over £100 total cost for the day out is a joke at this time of year. Not a dig at Southampton as such as most clubs, including city, are guilty of this. Something needs to be done collectively before true fans are priced out. Sorry for the rant, hope you lose sunday but best of luck for the season
