Saints Reportably Looking To Leeds For Right Back Options
Monday, 19th Jan 2015 18:46

Saints fans will be worried that the club will struggle to hang on to Nathaniel Clyne in the summer with news that they are reportably looking at Leeds for a right back.

The media is reporting that Saints had scouts at Elland Road over the weekend to spy on Leeds United right back Sam Byram with rumours circulating that Clyne is no nearer signing a contract extension.

This is perhaps not to surprising, Clyne will know his stock is high and will be tempted to wait till the summer when he will know what his bargaining power is in terms of salary with Saints, if they do qualify for Europe and indeed the Champions league, Clyne will command a far bigger salary offer than if he signed now, unfortunately a drawback to our success so far.

The trip to watch Byram though did not offer many answers in that he was used a right wing back rather than in the more traditional role.

I would be absolutly gutted if Clyne departs in the summer.

I already expect Morgan and Cork to be off. Yes, I am now confident that whatever happens we will get decent replacements, but I think our amazing tream spirit is as much about players making the journey together as anything else.
