G.M's Match Preview: Top Of Table Rams Will Clean Up Addicks At iPro
Tuesday, 24th Feb 2015 12:30 by George Martin

Derby welcomes a Charlton team who arrive on the back of a convincing 3-0 away victory to relegation threatened Wigan on Saturday.

The Addicks have won their past two games, having won none of their previous 14, with Saturday their first win away in seven attempts.

Despite conceding too many sloppy goals recently, Derby will also be boosted by the character shown in the past two league games when coming from behind to collect valuable points.

Jonny Russell should return to the Derby squad, but may have to settle for a place on the bench. Ince will fill one of the wide berths with either Ward or Lingard on the other. Dawkins is likely to drop to the bench after an ineffective game.

Marcarell or Bryson may come in for Thorne - depending on how Saturday's exploits have impacted on him physically. Bent will continue up front as Martin is still not fully fit and the back four will look to be more solid when compared to recent games.

Charlton may start with recent signings Diarra and Eagles as they look to steer clear of the relegation zone and consolidate themselves in mid table after a good start at the beginning of the season.

The Derby defence will have to be aware of the pace of Vetokele who usually has a good eye for goal. Other team news also sees defender Milos Veljkovic and midfielders Johnnie Jackson plus Franck Moussa are all still on the treatment table.

Guy Louzon (manager) seems to have started to get his ideas across and Charlton seem to be trying to be more organised, compact and as a result, difficult to break down.

Taking the lead with a first half goal often seems to settle the players and fans in these sorts of games. Derby will hope the goal scoring form of Ince and Bent, combined with the creativity of Hughes will be too much for Charlton.

Expect a compact rugged Charlton team without the ball who will try and play football and break quickly when in possession.

However, after recent defensive and goalkeeping errors Derby will be determined to keep a clean sheet, while continuing to create chances at the other end.

Derby to win 3-0 with Bent to score against one if his many former clubs.
