Saints Fans Celebrate As Brendan Rodgers Sacked Sunday, 4th Oct 2015 18:44 Saints fans will feel a sense of justice being done as it was announced that Brendan Rodgers has been sacked by Liverpool Football Club.
Saints played their part in the demise of a man who was as near to a public enemy number 1 as we have, by beating Chelsea yesterday, that result and Mourinho's weird press conference lead to media sources claiming that the Chelsea boss wan on the brink of being sacked.
This would have stirred the Liverpool board into action, if Rodger's results weren't bad enough, Liverpool could not afford to hang on much longer and see their targeted replacements snatched from under their noses by the London club, once I heard the name of Klopp being mentioned as a possible replacement for Mourinho, I knew that Rodgers was toast. Sky Sports interviewed Rodgers after the game against Everton and he said that he hoped to be at the club a while longer, that turned out to be only another couple of hours as Liverpool announced they had sacked the man who had come to be the most hated man in Southampton for the way he went about unsettling our players in the summer of 2014.
Back in August 2014 he said when asked about raiding St Mary's and the way it had been done.
“I have absolutely no sympathy for Southampton,”
“They have a choice as a club. They don’t have to sell. They had that choice. Maybe Southampton’s objectives have changed. They were on course to be a ÂChampions League club, I believe, but, obviously, that has changed. "
That rankled with Saints fans who thought that Rodgers had gone beyond the acceptable boundaries in the way he unsettled our players, Saints it's true could have held on to the trio of players he had signed, but they clearly were unsettled and had had their heads turned behind the back of their then current club, Dejan Lovren stating that "His head was already in Liverpool" before an official bid had even been made.
Now Brendan Rodger's head is no longer in Liverpool it's heading for the Dole Office,

The only surprise is that the Fenway group allowed him to spend best part of another £100m in the summer after last seasons woeful waste of money. It will be interesting to see how many of the ex saints he signed have a role under the new manager.

Lovren and Lala must be happy. They might actually get a game, but then again they could be turning out for Stoke next season.

I don't actually believe its a good thing him getting sacked, he has turned liverpool into an average team which means we can be assured of at least 3 points a season from them whist Anfield is not a fortress to be feared, this in turn helps us move up the table. A decent manager may turn it around which is not good for saints.

Good riddance. I don't like him. Signed players randomly and then didn't know what system to play them in. No wonder his better players opted to go (except Sturridge who was hampered by injury).

Is it that black and white? Of course I don't like him because of the way he allegedly backed us into a corner, unsettled our players and particularly screwed up Sir Rickie, but he did have a point when he said we didn't have to sell ! We now seem to be out of the carp financially so we will see at the end of the season whether the board running this great club backs up it's words over the 'five year plan' and invests in growth or whether it just 'Takes the money' and prays Ron can do it again!

This is one Saints fan that is not celebrating. I loved how he gave us tons of money for average or worse players. I loved the way he was greasing the pole for the scouse to slide down the standings. I love the Deluded Brendan twitter account. He was the perfect Trojan Horse. Now our only hope is they have no money left to spend, the locker room is a shambles and if Klopp tries to get them to work hard, they will rebel, which will make him leave and they look to one of their former players to appease the fickle fans. You're right-if Jose had left, then Klopp was the obvious choice and that would have kept Brenda in place. So now we need Jose to walk and Chelski to hire MoPo. Damn! And I was so happy after the Saints win.

Actually i think this move will help liverpool in the long term. You could argue under Rogers, Saints were almost on par with their team. If they get Klopp or Ancelotti, i seriously think they will move up a gear and leave us for dust, and that is a shame.

I'd like to know how the writer of this piece thinks that Saints could have held onto the trio of players that Brendan Rodgers signed from us as he seems to think we had a choice in the matter?

Liverhampton are not a good side, under scrutiny they will lose, look at the cup semi-final v 's Villa, they have a lot of players that play in the same position so they can't all play and as you saw when Daniel 'go it alone' Sturridge gets injured they are in trouble, the problem for Liverhampton is there are too many teams that are convinced they can compete with them in the prem Saints being one of them, so every week they get a tough game Stoke 6 Liverhampton 1 last season so I think we can sit back a laugh still until the end of the season when a mass clear out will take place, but we can then laugh at who Rodgers takes over some-where else, coyr

What we don't want right now BoondockSaint is for Mourinho to get the boot and they come in for Ronald Koeman. We may have dodged that bullet with Klopp being handily "between jobs" but we can do without mass sackings of the big six managers for a year or two.

Do you think we'd have Lallana back if his face no longer fits up North?

Blogs 31 bloggersKnees-up Mother Brown #19 by wessex_exile February, and the U’s enter the most pivotal month of the season. Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process. What’s the excuse going to be today Steve – shocking pitch, faking head injuries, Mexican banditry or some other bit of sour-grapery bullsh*t? Southampton Polls |
