Ben Davies says Pompey will give someone a hammering if they keep faith in their own ability.

The Blues have stuttered in recent weeks but are still third going into Sunday's home tussle with AFC Wimbledon.

Full-back Davies, one of the stars of the season so far, told The News: ‘We believe we are inches away from turning the corner. We believe that we are capable of going on a good run.

‘We have to stick to our principles. We have to keep working hard and stay patient. Hopefully someone will get it soon. That would be nice.’

Davies has faith in Pompey's forwards to keep the Blues ticking over, adding: ‘The forward lads, the lads in the final third, will make mistakes and give the ball away with so many bodies behind them.

‘If they try a risky pass they will give it away. They’ve got the hardest job, but when it comes off they will quite rightly get the plaudits. The lads are positive — Gary Roberts, Gaz Evans, Benno and Adam McGurk, Chappers and the other boys.

‘They are positive. When it breaks down we have to go and get the ball again for them. They are our match-winners. They win us games.'
