Jose Fonte Set To Return Against Aston Villa
Friday, 4th Dec 2015 15:45

Ronald Koeman has confirmed that Jose Fonte is ready to return against Aston Villa, welcome news for Saints fans.

Jose Fonte looks likely to return against Aston Villa tomorrow after being forced to sit out the cup debacle against Liverpool with a cut knee sustained last weekend against Manchester City.

“Jose Fonte did normal training this morning,” Koeman confirmed.

“He is normally available if doesn’t happen something strange. Normally he will be available.

“Of course, you like to have everybody available.

“He’s our captain, he’s an important player for the team.

“Ok, happy when he is back.”

Glad that Fonte is back and he needs to come straight back into the starting XI and replace Caulker.

I am just wondering whether Ron will keep Cedric at right back, or decide to replace him. I find it strange that he is left out of some of the games where he would benefit the team with overlaps and attacking play - which I think we will need tomorrow against a defence heavy Villa side.

Yoshi was used against Villa in the Cup and scored, so perhaps Ron is thinking that history will repeat itself ? If it does, then I very much hope it is the repeat against Villa, and not the Yoshida repeats we witnessed against Newcastle, Everton, Man Utd and Man City !!
