No Offers On The Table For Van Dijk !
Friday, 11th Aug 2017 09:11

Despite the fact that he has now handed in a transfer request Southampton Football Club have yet to receive an offer for Virgil Van Dijk

Although Liverpool have been joined by Chelsea, Manchester City Arsenal in being linked to Virgil Van Dijk the Daily Echo are reporting that none of them have yet tabled a bid.

The reason that the latest clubs to join the race are yet to do so could be for several reasons, firstly that they are not actually interested, the media reports are merely rumours planted by the players agent to further try and put pressure on Saints.

Secondly it could be that none of the club's actually think Van Dijk is better than what they alresy have or could bring in from elsewhere.

Thirdly it could be that the football grapevine is saying that this deal has been carved out by Liverpool FC and the players agent, that it is all about money rather than ambition, it would be a done deal if these parties had actually gone about things the right way and even if Saints do decide to sell Van Dijk will only go to Liverpool and no other club.

Everyone n football knows that this deal stinks to high heaven and is about money,, other clubs are not willing to overpay to the degree that Liverpool are.

So Saints have to sit tight and wait, Liverpool seem unwilling to put in a bid due to the fear that they will be immediately sanctioned by the Premier League and FA and could find themselves unable to do any other business in the transfer window due to this.

That being the case they are likely to come in very late after they have completed any other incoming transfers in the hope of getting it done and dusted quickly and if they were sanctioned then it would not affect them too much.

Still 20 days left so a bit premature to imply anything yet. The only people to benefit from a bidding war will be SFC.

More probably the PL's old boy network know Les well enough to know whether he is bluffing or not on the "won't be sold" stance. Take it as positive should that be the case
