Mario Lemina has proved his popularity among the Saints support by winning the Club's September player of the month award.

Saints fans took to Mario Lemina from the start and his performance in the win at Crystal Palace was as good as any other central midfielder in the past few years and there have been some good one to compare with from the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin, Oriol Romeu, Steven Davis and Victor Wanyama.

That game has played a major part in his winning of the September vote and there aren't many who would bet against him repeating it this month.

Receiving the Under Armour Player of the Month prize, he said on the club's official web site.

“I am very happy to win this award. I feel really good in this team and I hope I can continue like this going forwards.

“It’s really nice to have the fans talking and singing about me; I feel very comfortable in the Premier League, the style of our play and the style of the league suits me and brings the best out of me.

“I am happy to be here and to have made a good start. For October, I hope we can kick on and string some wins together, starting this Sunday. As for me, I just want to keep this good form up and continue improving.”
