Virgin Media Subsidise Saints Trip To Wembley To Face Spurs Monday, 20th Nov 2017 21:23 Saints shirt sponsor Virgin Media are subsidising tickets and travel for Saints Boxing Day trip to Wembley to face Tottenham Hotspur.
Some Saints fans have griped about Virgin subsidising visiting supporters to St Mary's, they complain that Virgin should be doing it for Saints fans for every game not helping other clubs.
If they bothered to look into this they would know that Virgin Media do this as part of their sponsorship deal with The Football Supporters Federation rather than their deal with Saints, indeed it is good publicity for Saints, although their own fans still don't seem to understand the logistics of the situation.
But no one can have any complaints on Boxing Day as Virgin Media are subsidising our trip to Wembley to face Spurs meaning that adult tckets are now only £20, but to add to that on a day when the transport network outside of London is shut down and Saints fans struggling to get to the stadium, they are also subsidising travel on the clubs official coaches.
That means it will only be £15 by coach for the trip, if you go with the club.
One sad thing is that it appears that Spurs are one of the Premier League clubs who although forced to only charge £30 for a full price Adult ticket, squeeze away fans by only giving small discouts to Oap's and youngsters.
Full details are as follows.
Southampton fans are set to be rewarded for their loyal support by main club sponsor Virgin Media, who are again subsidising tickets and travel - this time for the Boxing Day trip to Tottenham Hotspur. Saints travel to Wembley Stadium for a 12.30pm GMT kick-off on Boxing Day, with the club receiving an allocation of 3,070 tickets for the match and Virgin Media's offer, which enabled fans to take advantage of discounted tickets on three occasions on the road last season, will be in place.

I think the gripe the fans have Nick is the amount of away fans that now attend our games and the vocal soul of our club suffer because of it,i for one am all for twenty is plenty campaign but we need to cap the amount coming to our stadium and effectively taking over , theres nothing worse than being outsung at home with our own song by the Y**s or three and a half thousand scousers just being there let alone singing ,coyr

The amount coming to our stadium is capped at 3,000 same as every other club unless they have under 30k capacity, Spurs and Liverpool like Manchester United, Arsenal & Chelsea would fill the away end no matter what the price. Reality is that cost is not a factor in how many supporters travel away, most teams fans would travel, the number of visiting fans in the Premier League is decreasing despite cheaper tickets for other reasons, discounted tickets just help the regular traveller not encourage those that dont go. One of the worst away followings in the Premier league is Stoke City, yet they not only have cheap tickets but their club lays on free coach travel to every game, add to that 8 Premier league clubs are within an hours drive, they should have one of the highest

The allocation is a joke. 3,070 tickets in a stadium that holds 90 odd k, is an absolute farce. Spurs get more than that when they come to St Marys - a stadium that has about a third of the capacity of Wembley. I know there are segregation and safety issues, but seriously, we should be getting a much bigger allocation. Then at St Marys, we invite away fans in, offering large allocations and cheap tickets, then wonder why the atmosphere is poor and the away team often get positive results. It would seem that MONEY is more important than results, but ultimately poor results on the pitch will result in poorer results off it.

Boxing Day's the one day of the year when I'd willingly pay over-the-odds for a ticket as it means I don't have to go to the mother-in-law's.

Blogs 31 bloggersKnees-up Mother Brown #19 by wessex_exile February, and the U’s enter the most pivotal month of the season. Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process. What’s the excuse going to be today Steve – shocking pitch, faking head injuries, Mexican banditry or some other bit of sour-grapery bullsh*t? Southampton Polls |
