Tadic Linked With Ajax
Monday, 21st May 2018 09:23

No Dusan Tadic is not cleaning out his kitchen sink, but the Dutch giants have been scouring the Premier League and are interested in the Saints midfielder.

Dusan Tadic is being linked with a return to the Eridivisie with Ajax of Amsterdam, Tadic who played a major part in the final games of the season like many other Saints players struggled to fins consistency this year and in his four seasons with the club was often a little frustrating.

However if he does go it will be a loss to Saints given his contribution each season, Tadic was one of those players who are either on fire or appear to be lacklustre, but he had the ability to change games and even when his contributions appeared to be a little rare, they were usually incisive ones.

Being a flair player the likes of Tadic are often the first to come in for stick when the team is under performing and under fire, they get the blame whilst the more industrious in the team are seen as rolling up their sleeves and trying.

In his four seasons Tadic has played 115(19) times in the Premier League for Saints and scored 20 goals, but he has also had numerous assists.

AS mentioned he is the type of player that can delight the fans but also frustrate them, but he has rarely missed a game in the Premier League and always given his all, but for some he didn't work hard enough.

If he does go he has given the club good service and should go with the best wishes of all Saints fans.

I was critical of him for a large part of last season but I saw enough under Mark Hughes to change my opinion. He was class for the last half a dozen games and at the moment you can't say that about too many of our players. Anyway, Ajax would be a step down for him so why would he want to go there?

I never know what to think of Tadic. He's undeniably frustrating. I’m actually surprised his scoring record is so respectable. He blows hot and cold, and to me it feels quite often it’s the latter. I also get fed up with his theatrics. But… he does seem to have prospered under Hughes.

It feels like there's a 'will he, won't he' story about Tadic every summer. Previous years have been due to the fact that he hasn't got on with the manager. Given that he's praised Hughes and after scoring against Chelsea he pointed at his badge then pointed at the ground to suggest he's staying... I think he's staying.

No wonder this story is getting attention-he's one of the few talented players we have left! McCarthy will be the next headline.

Tadic flourished when he had talented players to play with (Pelle, Mane, etc.) but between the sale of our quality players and the negative tactics of Puel and Pellegrino, it's no wonder his production had dropped off. Any player's assist rate would go down the drain if they were passing to Long and Austin.

He may wait to see if the board keep Hughes or bring in another yes man.

Yes Boondock - I think Long also looked a lot better with Mane beside him. I think I agree with the article in that Tadic does care and although he is frustrating I would be sorry to see him go (for the first summer in a while the list of those I would say that about is NOT very long).

This time last year I would probably have been pleased to see him go as I was fed up with the theatricals but he seems to have got over that and has knuckled down under Hughes. He is one to keep.

Off thread but I see from the Echo website that Yoshida is staying - very good news for stability and the right attitude.

Further off thread if anyone can find some use for Boufal's dubious talents then please buy him otherwise we will have to dismantle him for spare parts and render down any remaining material for tallow.

Tadic remains the only truly creative player on our books, ;lose him and we might as well sign ourselves to relegation.

If we can exchange him for Hakim Ziyech then I think we should do the deal. Ziyech is younger and is likely to be an upgrade in the longer term. We'll probably have to pay a little more on top of the exchange but given our return from Tadic I think that would be a good piece of business.

Ajax clearly see Tadic as their replacement for Ziyech and we need a replacement for Davis/Tadic so it would be a win-win for both sides. Ziyech also knows he'll need at a least a season to adapt to the rigours of the EPL. Southampton has a proven track record of developing promising foreign talent and selling them to the Top 6 so it'll be perfect for him. He's also Moroccan, so he might be a positive influence on Boufal in terms of attitude and work ethic.

Tdaic to Ajax...sounds like a PR spin fron the Dutch club.
With Tadic going to the World Cup, I'd expect Serbia to put in a reasonable showing ..would he want to come back and move to a lower salary -even if it is for atop club - in a less than exciting league ?..Isn't it most players dream to play in the Prem?.

Unless he gets a dream offer - I'd expect him to stay out his contract.
