Saints Fans Advised To Arrive Early And Avoid Delays For Southampton Pride
Wednesday, 22nd Aug 2018 22:07

With 15,000 expected to attend the Southampton Pride festival on Saturday Saints fans are being warned to expect delays.

The main issue will be the parade which will set off from the Guildhall at 2pm and then head towards the Bargate and back again ending at around 3pm.

This means that supporters attending the game especially by train will not be able to cross the road from Guildhall Square to the Bargate on the parade route which basically goes straight down the precinct and then returns, including West Marlands road between 1.45 pm and 3.30 pm although there will be a slight delay for the parade for Leicester fans in Yeates to cross at 2.15pm.

Fans are being advised to allow extra time so that they can get to St Mary's either to the North of the Guildhall via Commercial Road and through Watts Park and East Park or alternatively to go to the South and head for the stadium via East Street, all roads in between the Guildhall and the Bargate will basically be closed and difficult to cross.

Likewise with many events being held around the Civic Centre and Guildhall square, many of the bars and pubs in that area will be extra busy, so some fans may find themselves unable to get into their usual haunts on Saturday.
