Saints Line Up Les Reed's Replacement Wednesday, 14th Nov 2018 11:06 According to various media outlets, Saints have already compiled a shortlist of replacement's for Les Reed and their favourite would be an interesting choice. According to the media the man that Saints have at the top of their list is Stuart Webber currently the Technical Director at Norwich City the man who is credited with Huddersfield's promotion to the Premier League after appointing David Wagner as manager. 34 Year old Webber has crammed a lot into his CV, he started at Wrexham, before joining Premier League giants Liverpool as their Director of Recruitment. Spells at QPR and Wolves then followed, before he made the move to Huddersfield Town as their Head of Football Operations in 2015. At every club he’s worked at, Webber has been instrumental in shaping recruitment and the development of young players traits which have alerted Saints. Amongst those he is credited with as signing are a 15 year old Raheem Sterling at Liverpool and his rise has been quite meteoric and he has never been scared of moving club's to progress his career and this is perhaps the one area that would not tick Saints boxes. If he moved to St Mary's it would be quite ironic in that the man he replaced was Ross Wilson who left to join Saints as Director of Football Operations and if he is appointed then Webber would effectively be Wilson's direct boss. Webber has been at Norwich for a little over 18 months and as it stands today they are now at the top of the Championship. His first act was to appoint German coach Daniel Farke as Norwich manager, Farke was an unknown quantity in that he was the coach of Borussia Dortmund's reserve side for six years before joining the Canaries, working under David Wagner who was the manager of that side before he joined Huddersfield in 2015 after being appointed by Webber who had recently arrived at the club. As mentioned all of this seems to be very much the Saints way of doing things, although it has to be said that Webber seems to be good at finding managers who are looking to progress up the ladder rather than those that are established and have a track record. Certainly Saints need to look to move sooner than later, Fulham have already done just that by sacking Slavisa Jankovic and appointing Claudio Ranieri ahead of what is a true six pointer when Saints travel to Craven Cottage in ten days time, they are not sitting on their hands and although the whisper from St Mary's is that Mark Hughes will be in charge for this fixture, if he should lose then his position would be surely untenable Photo: Action Images Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
