Saints Get Run Out In Staplewood Friendly Wednesday, 20th Mar 2019 18:51 Saints took on Queens Park Rangers in a behind closed doors friendly at the Staplewood campus today giving most of the squad not on International duty a run out.. Saints beat Queens Park Rangers 3-2 this afternoon with goals from Charlie Austin, Sam Gallagher and Jake Vokins in a game that saw 21 players used including Danny Ings. In truth this was nothing more than a glorified pre season work out with the emphasis on the players keeping a feeling for the ball in a game situation and both sides would not have been playing at full pelt with neither wanting unnecessary injuries at this stage of the season. From a Saints perspective it was important to give Danny Ings game time after being out for nearly two months with a hamstring injury and hopefully he will show no adverse reaction to this workout.
