The Liverpool fixture saw the last of our games against the Big Six, now we have a run in of six games that are all winnable, the task is to win two of them, The Real Work Starts Now !

The first question to ask yourself is whose place would you rather be in ? Saints or a number of our relegation rivals, personally I don't think there is much doubt, of the five clubs who could possibly go down, six if you throw in Bournemouth as an outside bet, we have the easiest run in.

Even though both Burnley & Newcastle have 3 & 2 more points than us respectively, their run ins could be said to be tougher.

Cardiff of course look most likely having to go away to Burnley & Brighton in their next two matches and then follow that with Liverpool at home, this is a good couple of fixtures in that if they lose Cardiff will be truly in dire straits, but a draw or even a win will keep both of the other two clubs in the mix, personally I don't think we should be too concerned about where we finish in the League as long as it is out of the top three, that being the case we need to get the job done as quickly and easily as possible, that means us winning and Cardiff losing the next two matches, if that set of results happens then we are just about there.

If Cardiff don't drag us into it then Newcastle could be at risk, although they have 25 points, they have a tough set of fixtures and only five games left, Leicester A, Saints H, Brighton A, Liverpool H, Fulham A, the first four games against teams with something to play for. Although I think ultimately they will be safe.

Brighton have a game in hand, their next two games being Bournemouth at home and then Cardiff are crucial as they have the toughest of all the run ins, win them both and they are safe, lose them both and Cardiff drag them into the mix.

Burnley although on 36 aren't safe yet, they play Cardiff on Saturday, win that and it is their worries over, lose it and they will be within Cardiff's sights again and they truly have a tough four games, Chelsea A, Man City H, Everton A, and finish with Arsenal at Turf Moor, after the Cardiff game it is conceivable that they will not get another point, they have to beat Cardiff.

As I said I would rather be in our position than any of our rivals, we are the form side of the bottom half since Ralph Hasenhuttl took over, we just need to stay focused on what we need to do and bluntly that is average a point a game, something we have managed under Ralph in any given run of fixtures certainly all of which have had tougher games than the last six.

We have to guard against complacency though, having done the ground work we have to h=finish the job, as they say in golf, "Drive for show, Putt for dough" the message is simple we now need to put the ball in the hole and finish the game.

So now the real work starts, we have to get on with things and make sure that the last four months are not in vain, we have been building up to the season's finale and put ourselves into a strong position, we must make sure that we don't blow it now.

We did brilliantly beating Arsenal & Spurs and the away draw against Chelsea was great.Also the away win against Brighton was unexpected. The two games against Cardiff just shows how complacent we can be when least expected.Just hope Ralph can instill the killer instinct in these last 6 games.

saintjf added 11:59 - Apr 9 We are not in a bad position but we cannot depend on Cardiff doing what Swansea did for us last season. I think we shall probably finish out of the top 3....did I read that correctly. Wolves are a very good side and will be a test. It is up to Saints to stay in control so we get the points and not rely on other teams to fail.

A1079 added 12:52 - Apr 9 I would rather had not been in this position in the first place. I had hoped that the board etc had learnt from last season (but apart from confirm Hughes in post they did little to rectify the issues of the previous 2 seasons) and it remains to be seen that if we do survive whether they will do what they need to do or just sit back and hope and pray they can survive again. I do think though that RH is no wallflower and will stand his ground. But, as that annoying saying goes, we are where we are, and I for one, don't believe we have an easier or a harder run in than our rivals as we have shown that one week we can lose to Cardiff and the next we can beat Tottenham. Lose to Wolves and Cardiff win and things won't look so good. Cardiff lose and we win then it will look much better. I don't like us presuming that we have easier run in's or games as I am too old in the tooth and seen too much to know that we are just as capable of blowing it as rising to it.

SaintBrock added 14:25 - Apr 9 Wolves are a bloody good team and will have something to prove after their disappointment on the North Circular. This is not really one of our winnable games. Expect Cardiff to beat both Brighton & Burnley so the Newcastle match may decide our fate. Lose the next two and it's a fast trip to the loo time once more.

underweststand added 17:50 - Apr 9 We have shown some good form since January - even in losing at Old Trafford, we didn't disgrace ourselves. Many had dreams of "maybe " stealing a point against Liverpool -and we nearly did, and even Klopp must have been pleased with the idea of settling for one point - upto the 80th minute The reality is that like the other 30 -odd games they've won, Liverpool can get across the line no matter what, an d(like the MU game) we showed that Ralph's " new look " system has provided some good football. Wolves are good opposition for several reasons. They've showed fine form since their promotion, and we looked good for one point in the Molyneaux game - until the final 10 minutes. There are currently only half of that side still in first team contention, so we can hope that Ralph's selection will tip the scales in our favour on Saturday. If we can mainain the "top half " form we've shown since January, then Wolves are just the sort of team we should look to beat if we are to continue improving.

Boris1977 added 18:48 - Apr 9 I don't think many saints fans are complacent. We are in the relegation fight and I hope the players are completely focused on this. Cardiff play to their strengths and I can see them getting at least 4pts in their next to games. And they will not lie down for Liverpool and I imagine an attempted break away by Liverpool would be stopped via a reducer on the half way line. We are in a battle and it's going to be too close to call.
