Saints Fans Split On Adam Lallana Return
Monday, 20th May 2019 09:23

The first 24 hours of our poll to see whether Saints supporters would be prepared to welcome back Adam Lallana into the fold has produced surprising results. Are you a Rallana or a Nallana

The departure of Adam Lallana to Liverpool 5 years ago was the most fractious to Saints supporters, Rickie Lambert was seen as joining his boyhood club and earning a last big money move so he went with the best wishes of the supporters, however the other departing players were not sent on their way with such freindly best wishes ringing in their ears.

But the departure that was felt most was Adam Lallana, here was perhaps the most loved of all Saints players or at least on a par with Rickie, in that he had been with the club longer and was seen as the song goes "as one of our own"

Although his return's to St Mary's were not pleasant, Saints fans were gracious enough to vote him in their best ever Saints team for the exhibition at Sea City Museum last year.

When the rumour filtered through that Lallana wanted to return to St Mary's in was always going to be a contentious issue, for many they had loved him so much his departure was felt like a marriage break down with their partner leaving them, Dejan Lovren merely annoyed us an stirred up hatred, but Lallana broke our hearts for leaving us.

The first day of our poll produced mixed results, the majority were not in favour of an Adam Lallana return, although historic ill feeling was not the major reason behind this, only 11% felt that they would not accept him back under any circumstances.

But 47% felt that we should not sign him, not because of the past but because they felt that his best days were well behind him and at 31 and having barely played over the past two seasons it would not be a good move for Saints.

Around 38% felt that we should bring him back if the price was right, with another 4% voting maybe!

This meant that the majority 58% felt that he should not return and 42% were willing to consider the possibility, like Brexit it seems to have split Saints supporters into two camps, the Rallana's who want to see him return and the Nallana's who are saying no way !

If you haven't yet done so vote now using the poll below.

He's going to Bournemouth. This story has mischievously been twisted for effect.
He does not fit in with our future plans.

My original article suggested that I thought Bournemouth might be his final destination

People must be thick to want a 31 year old sick note to return, he left like a bellend and should not be allowed back ever.

Far to old for Ralphs plans. It looks like we have already got one sicknote player from Liverpool and don't want any more. We are not a south coast retirement home for sick footballers.

Another "yesterday's man" I'm afraid...... would not touch with the proverbial barge pole.
It was his choice to 'desert SFC' and, looking towards next season, here is no longer a role for him at St. Marys now.

He is too old IMO. His weakness was always how long he lasted in matches anyway, I cant imagine he has got more stamina.

That said he will probably play a couple of decent games for B'mouth and everyone will start moaning
