Injury Issues For Sheffield United Ahead Of Saints Game
Monday, 9th Sep 2019 12:53

Sheffield United have had a couple of injury worries crop up as they prepare to face Saints on Saturday at Bramall Lane.

Sheffield United have two big injury concerns ahead of their match with Saints up in Yorkshire on Satuday

Both Ex Saints striker David McGoldrick and also Callum Robinson have withdrawn from international duty with fitness issues.

The duo had been away with the Republic of Ireland and both started the 1-1 Euro 2020 qualifier with Switzerland on Thursday.

McGoldrick scored his first senior goal for his country to rescue a point in Dublin. Yet neither will play any part in tomorrow’s friendly with Bulgaria.

“David came into camp with a shoulder injury but was determined to play against Switzerland and what a game he had,” national team manager Mick McCarthy told BBC Sport.

“He was brilliant from start to finish and capped off a great performance with a first senior international goal that was no more than he deserved."

“Callum felt his hamstring in the second half of the game so it is best now that he also goes back to Sheffield United for treatment.”

Both have played in all four of the Blades opening Premier League fixtures, Robinson has started each game and has scored once, the first in a 2-2 draw at Chelsea and McGoldrick started the first three and then came on for the last 30 mins at Chelsea, he is yet to score for the club this season.

Ex Saint Billy Sharp has only managed two substitute appearances so far, but did score the first goal for the Blades back in the Premier League when he equalised against Bournemouth in the final minute.

I am not falling for that old trick. Burnley often play us claiming to have injuries etc, we then think it is going to be easy and then they manage to beat us 1-0 or something.

Sheff Utd are gritty, determined, not frightened to hurt and get stuck in and are in their honeymoon period at the moment. Believe you me, they will be tough to beat and we need the right attitude and approach.

Just reading about Lemina , only Saints would have their best player nowhere near the squad , can’t someone have a word with him? He’d definitely improve our side
