Saints Need To Make One Big Change Now !
Sunday, 24th Nov 2019 13:00

There are those that say that Southampton FC is rotten to the core, they may not be right but there is one big change that Saints do need to make and it is not what you might think.

Sometimes you need to have the ability to laugh at yourself in adversity although that is very hard t this moment in time after the recent debacle against Leicester City who walloped us 9-0 on our own patch.

We do not need to remind ourselves of this defeat too often, however we do not want to keep reminding ourselves on a regular basis, but we are doing just that.

On Friday as I headed into town I was passed by the Saints team coach presumably coming from Staplewood and heading to St Mary's to load up for the trip to Arsenal.

Suddenly the number plate hit me squarely in the eyes, not physically but it might as well have been.

90 KXG

Yes we actually have a personalised number plate to celebrate our own record defeat, even the KXG reminds me they are sponsored by King Power.

So everywhere our team goes they are reminding themselves of the 9-0.

I have not seen anybody else bring this up either on social media or elsewhere, I cannot believe I am the first to have noticed.

But it is funny, we have to have the ability to laugh at ourselves sometimes and this is typical Saints, sometimes they can't see what is happening under their own noses.

Perhaps this is a minor thing in the grand scheme of things, perhaps it doesn't matter one iota, but it is simple to rectify it, the number plate has no other relevance to us as a club so it would cost only a few hundred quid to get a change to something different and help erase the memory, however I'm worried that knowing our club they will change it to 10 KXG which could also be chilling omen given we still have to go to Liverpool and I don't think the figure would be predicting a 1-0 defeat.

Still it made me laugh and sometimes that is all you can do in a situation.

I'm still so numb after that drubbing all I can do is laugh, it will take a long time to get over that one that's for sure, it's almost unforgiveable those are my feelings at the moment,
my one or maybe two consolations was Leicester's biggest home win was against the skates 10-0 or something like that and that are only highlight this season was the 4-0 pasting we gave them in there own back yard, sorry but I would Gao out

a bit off topic here Nick, but surely Saints should consider giving Che Adams a few outings n the U23's. he 'd still qualify age wise, especially as the U23 's are still short of some regulars and they have to play U18 lads every week.

With his past record ..and a £15 million price tag , he really must get some game time and scoring a a few goals at the lower level would surely boost his confidence..

I imagine any Leicester supporter would give their life's savings to own this number plate. Saints could use the money for a decent centre back.
