Villa Game Heading For A Sell Out
Thursday, 20th Feb 2020 14:12

A quick look at the club's official website shows that there has been a surge in ticket sales, meaning that after just about our lowest top flight crowd ever against Burnley suddenly it's a full house

According to the seat plan on the ticket sales section of the club's official website there are only around 700 tickets in the home sections for the game against Aston Villa on Saturday and if previous games have been anything to go by most of these will go by Saturday morning.

That means there are likely to be something like 5,000 more fans in St Mary's than there were for the visit of Burnley, in truth more like 7,000 given the number of season ticket holders who were counted for that game but didn't bother turning up or in some cases as in fans from the Isle Of Wight couldn't get there due to ferries being cancelled.

But a week later it's different, yes there will be about 2,500 more visiting supporters for this one with Villa selling out there 3,000 tickets already, but in the home sections there is certainly a big difference between this time last week and now.

I would estimate about 700 tickets for sale although that figure might be boosted if the club suddenly find a chunk or two unsold in certain areas, something that they seem to do from time to time.

So if you are planning on going then the message is get on line now and buy your tckets, they might not be there by Saturday.

Further to recent discussion concerning the level of support from the home crowd surely the ticket sales indicate that the vast majority of us desperately want to get behind the team? I can't imagine that all those missing the Burnley game, most because of the awful weather I suspect, have now invested their money in a ticket just to shout abuse at the team in red and white. The support is there Nick and if the team is set up to have a real go at Villa then the noise level from the punters will be evident. Play like we did against Palace, get stuck in. The analogy that springs to mind is the difference in volume at a boxing match where the fighters are slugging it out compared to the combatants trying to win on points and avoiding contact. Give us something to cheer lads, because we all want three points without the anxiety of Villa still being in the game after eighty minutes.
