If You All Hate Pompey Wash Your Hands !!!

With suggestions that people should sing Happy Birthday To You or other songs to time their recommended 20 seconds, Saints fans have a perfect song to use.

Some Saints supporters have suggested using Oh When The Saints Go Marching In " as an alternative to Happy Birthday and this is good, but using the same song 20 times a day will become repetitive so it is a good idea to have a few alternatives, here is a suggestion.

Back in the 1960's & 70's the popular children's song "If your happy & you know it clap your hands" was adapted on terraces at football grounds across the country for various uses, it was adapted as if your all going to Arsenal/Chelsea/Villa/etc" to show that you were attending the next away game & also adapted to show that you hated a team, either the team you were playing that day or your most hated rivals.

"If you all hate Pompey clap your hands" was often heard at the Dell and it is still in use today but not as often as it used to be, fans these days prefer to stand up if they hate their rivals or love their team rather than clap their hands.

But this song is easily adapted for the Government recommended 20 second hand wash.

It has to be sung at a nice slow steady tempo, but if you do so at that pace it fits perfectly, here are the words try it and see.

If you all hate Pompey wash your hands (three extra scrub scrub scrub's here)
If you all hate Pompey wash your hands

If you all hate Pompey
All hate Pompey
All hate Pompey

Wash Your Hands (scrub scrub scrub)

For those who want to be extra clean they can add on the Adult version as a second verse which starts "If you really ****ing hate them wash your hands"

In these trying times it is a way that we can remind ourselves of those less fortunate than ourselves and although I'm not suggesting that they are responsible for this Corona virus thing, it should be noted that Scurvy, The Black Death & The Plague were all said to be introduced into the country via their port back in the middle ages, it did not have a reputation as a particularly clean place, soap was not readily available on Portsea Island till 1968 and the first indoor toilet there was officially opened in a house in Cosham in 1974, although there had been rumours that a rich family in Fareham had had one from 1970.

So what other football songs can we adapt to sing whilst we are washing our hands with chanting at football now a common thing since the mid 1960's we have over 50 years to draw from so both young and old can relive their past through hand washing and song.

The options are endless, my personal favourites would include.

From the 70's
Zigger Zagger Ziger Zagger Southampton
