Saints And Liverpool In Another Transfer Tussle
Wednesday, 6th May 2020 21:19

Saints and Liverpool are about to cross swords in the transfer market again, but this time they will be in competition for the same signing.

Werder Bremen star Milot Rashica is reportedly the subject of a three-way transfer battle between Liverpool, Southampton and RB Leipzig according to German media outlet SportBild.

The report from Germany is that all three clubs are keen on the winger, who Bremen may be forced to part ways with in order to raise funds.

Rashica is said to have a €38m release clause in place until June 15th, which would drop to just €18m if Werder Bremen are relegated from the Bundesliga.

The club's chief executive Frank Baumann told Bild:

"Of course, there are a few prospects for a player like Milot after the performances of the past few years. So far, we haven’t negotiated with any club."

The Kosovan who will turn 24 next month has played at St Mary's before in his Vitesse Arnhem days when he came on as a 60th minute sub in the Europa League cut tie 1st leg and also played the entire 90 minutes in the 2nd leg in Holland.

BBC website reported this in their gossip column, but although not quoting any transfer figures, did suggest that he would be out of contract in June.
Shouldn't that then mean he would be free ?
Anyway, we can hardly compete with Liverpool or RB Leipzig - but suppose we could offer regular starts, despite having Redmond, Djenepo, Boufal, Sims, JWP, Armstrong, Valery and Long who can all play on the wing !!
