Elyounoussi Rejoins Celtic
Tuesday, 30th Jun 2020 20:58

Southampton Football Club has confirmed that Moi Elyounoussi will play his football up in Scotland for the second successive season, could this move be part of a bigger picture and trigger two other moves between the clubs.

Moi Elyounoussi has rejoined Celtic the club for whom he scored seven goals in 20 appearances in all competitions, helping Celtic win the Scottish League Cup and a ninth successive top-flight title.

Saints would have preferred a permanent deal for the wide man, but with the player himself expressing that he wanted to return to Scotland and Celtic though being iants of Scottish football being unable to afford either £10 million to buy him outright or to be able to match his wages, Saints seem to have decided to cut their losses and allow him to go on loan.

Reports from Scotland suggest that this time they will not only be paying a loan fee but also paying the bulk of his wages, in this difficult time although not ideal for Saints it gets his wages off the books early doors with the player thus joining Celtic for their pre season preparations, that alone could see Saints save half a million pounds in salary.

The quickness that this deal has been done suggests that relations between the two clubs are amicable and that Fraser Forster could also be heading back to Celtic Park with perhaps a rumoured exchange with Olivier Ntcham being part of that deal.

ME clearly has enough talent enough for Switzerland, or Scotland and seemingly even Norway (who don't rank very highly in World football), but as things stand he's not likely to get many more games in the PL. ..not on Ralph's watch anyway.
The ongoing loan-out saga with Celtic may continue for the remainder of his contract, unless he becomes their top scorer next season, in which case he'll end up going back to a good Euro club and we'll get our some money back with a good fee.

Overall, Nice lad... but not a good buy Les? ..or R?.. .but I don't suppose they care too much right now.
