Saints Reach Agreement With Tottenham Hotspur Thursday, 6th Aug 2020 14:21 Twist number 143 to the Pierre Emile Hojbjerg transfer to Spurs saga has been reported in the press today with media close to the North London club suggesting that a £25 million fee has been agreed.
The departure of Pierre Emile Hojbjerg has dragged on since the end of January and here we are six months later seemingly no nearer an ending with the player expressing a wish to join Spurs and Daniel Levy of that club using that as leverage to try and force the price down for what is after all Spurs "Number One Transfer Target" a player rates so highly that they are willing to pay ever so slightly more than a player they are trying to sell after starting only 9 league games for them.
But if the latest media reports are about to be believed, Spurs are starting to wake up and smell the coffee.
Alex Crook Of Talksport is tweeting to say the deal has been done and that Spurs are willing to stump up £25 million in total, although that price being reached will be the subject of several add ons.
Crook Tweeted.
#THFC have had a bid accepted by #SaintsFC for Pierre-Emile Hojberg. Believe the package is worth £25m with various add ons. Expecting this one to move quickly now.
This story is being repeated across the London media close to Spurs and if true the end of the saga could be near.
Hojnbjerg has been a marmite player to the Saints supporters , most though agree he is a competent Premier League player, but even his biggest fans would not feel he is good enough to be Spurs Number One target, if he is then there are troubled times ahead for the North London Yobbos, their supporters who are demanding Champions League football year in year out and are already up in arms about missing out this year, could face further disappointment and feel some protesting coming on.
So it looks like Spurs will pay an initial fee of somewhere between £15- 20 million and that will be topped up by increases should he play a set number of games as well as win a trophy, so we will not hold our breaths on getting paid out on the last one.
But it will be good to get some transfer money in and hopefully use some of it on Kyle Walker Peters as well as a couple of other areas on the pitch.
If the fee is as stated then that is a fair deal for the player.

Nick, our club is trying to negotiate a transfer deal and you are not helping them by criticising Hojbjerg and saying he is not good enough for Spurs. What on earth are you doing that?

I still think that we won't see 25m or anything like it when the smoke settles. PEH has been a good player for the club but he's never really shone. Good luck and thanks.

This is still transfer gossip at the moment....

Nick, you’re relying on and quoting information from that hapless half-wit Alex Crook? Seriously?

I'm sure like most deals there was a bit of pencil sharpening on both sides and any headline quoted price includes add ons. However, if it has been done TFFT. Out of the way and KWP has time to integrate into our squad. I wish PEH well and welcome aboard KWP!

Adam Blackmore is being quoted by BBC as done deal, no mention of KWP

In all fairness I think that we’ve sold him for way more than he should’ve gone for (but of course that’s not bad at all for us!), as he’s only got a year left on his contract and how much we’ve got for him is just great! I mean as much as people were complaining about the 15mill, that is really how much he was worth as we seemed to play better without him when the PL restarted! Still if we can get that American McKennie and get Walker-Peters on a permanent deal then I’m really looking forward to next season as we’re really not looking like anyone big is going to leave! Sheesh makes up for all those years of pain!

I don’t Seriously believe Spurs are going to lower their offer because the UI doesn’t rate PEH as highly as they appear to (sorry Nick). The simple fact is he wants away and if he feels Spurs are the answer, then fine. As far as I’m concerned they’re both sniffing glue as a) Spurs, European cup contenders? Yeah right; And b) PEH going to make a Significant difference to them? Not on what I’ve seen.

I believe Saints are stronger with KWP, rather than PEH, in the team. KWP is clearly a very capable right back specialist, while it is still uncertain whether PEH is best playing as a no. 6 or a no. 8. I thank PEH for his services and wish him all the best and wellcome KWP on board.

Think I'll be just as relieved to see this story evaporate, as I will when KWP is confirmed. Only wish Saints had been working harder on getting rid of the other millstones /deadwood, then we could have really arrived at a real separate valuation and done the deal for KWP by now, and not depended on the other ex player and Spuds, saved money and moved on.

Blogs 31 bloggersKnees-up Mother Brown #19 by wessex_exile February, and the U’s enter the most pivotal month of the season. Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process.
