Boufal Close To A Move To Greece Wednesday, 16th Sep 2020 18:07 Sofiane Boufal is edging closer to the St Mary's exit door with media reports suggesting that terms have been agreed between club and player, read on to find out more. Sofiane Boufal looks set to join Olympiacos and it is reported that he has agreed terms to exchange one set of red & white stripes for another and move to the Greek club who are based in Piraeus, a suburb of Athens and in another coincidence a Port. The Karaiskakis Stadium where they play is also very similar on the inside to St Mary'e so it will be a home from home for Boufal. With club and player said to have agreed terms, it is now down to Olympiacos and Saints to do the same, we are looking to cut our losses and recoup around £4 million for the player as well as save on his substantial wages . Boufal is clearly a talented player and has the ability to do some wonderful things, however he has not done them enough to justify the cost of keeping him for the final year of his contract and seeing him go for nothing next summer. Saints gambled a year ago and now have lost around £4 million in what they might have recouped if they had taken a cut price offer back then and paid the same again in wages, £8 million is a big amount of money to Saints and effectively this is the figure that they will see go the same way if Boufal was to stay. I liked Boufal as a player he could be exciting at times, I wish him well if he makes the move to Olymiacos or indeed another club.
