Ralph Confirms New Signing Deal Is Done
Sunday, 4th Oct 2020 14:16

Ralph Hasenhuttl has confirmed that Saints have a done deal for Brest's Ibrahima Diallo and that he is hopeful this won't be the last into the club before the transfer window slams shut.

Speaking in a post match interview with BT Sports Ralph Hasenhuttl confirmed that the Ibrahima Diallo deal is done and dusted, the Austrian is very coy in these situations so he would not have confirmed this until pen was put to paper.

When pushed on further signings he would only laugh and say that he was hopeful and to ask him on Tuesday.

On todays display from both James Ward Prowse and Oriol Romeu Diallo will have his work cut out to push himself into contention, but it is good to have competition for places.

So who is he looking at now? Will it be another midfielder?

Am watching full games of our new signing, Ibrahima Diallo, from last season and this season. I like what I have seen so far but I still have about 6 more games to watch over the next fortnight. My verdict to come afterwards...

I hope it works out. I still feel we have overpaid as he was purchased by Brest for €3 million and only has 24 games top flight experience. Unfortunately we probably had no option as this was about our fourth choice and neede to get someone. But I will happily eat my words if he turns out as he should.

From the Youtube clips (yeah, I know) he looks more defensive than the chap who we couldn't get the work permit for. I'd say he will prove to be a good signing and put a bit of pressure on Romeu (who was excellent today) to maintain high standards. Diallo's distribution looks to be better than Romeu's and also more forward passes. But we'll only really find out when he is in the team, on the pitch.

Must be a little disappointing for the guy to be told he was 4th

Bereber... makes the point that bringing in young players (around 21) is a good preparation for eventually replacing the likes of Romeu and Bertrand who although playing well are around 30 -ish and may well go downhill fast if they can't hold their good form.
We looked good against a poor Baggies side who will struggle all season if they can't improve and FAST .

It was still a satisfactory scoreline and a welcome 3 points, and I got almost as much pleasure after seeing the scoreline from Old Trafford.
