Jannick Vestergaard Gives Update On Mohammed Salisu Wednesday, 11th Nov 2020 21:36 The club have said nothing, Ralph Hasenhuttl not much more and the fans have been left wondering just why Mohammed Salisu has yet to even be revealed to the media let alone played a game, but now Jannik Vestergaard has given an update. Saints defender Jannik Vestergaard has given the supporters a clue to what they can expect from defender Mohammed Salisuand so far we have been short on clues so much that even Sherlock Holmes would be hard pressed to deduce when Salisu will make an appearance for Saints at any level. The £10.9m summer signing is yet to play for Ralph Hasenhuttl's side this term after arriving from Real Valladolid carrying an injury that kept him out of the last few games in La Liga before he left the club to join Saints. The exact details of the injury have never been explained, but when quizzed Ralph Hasenhuttl has cited "other problems" as a reason for his slow rise to the first-team. The Austrian suggested back in September that the defender would be ready for action after the International break in October, here we are nearly a month on and still no sign. It seems to be down to Jannik Vestergaard to give the fans a little bit of an insight on a player who was tipped to replace him before his good form this season. "I've obviously seen a lot more of him than the fans have," said Vestergaard. "He's has a lot of issues so he has not been training at 100 per cent, until now. It obviously makes it difficult to judge someone, when they haven't." Salisu has been in full contact team training for a number of weeks now and is said to be getting stronger and stronger with every minute, however there is still no concrete news of when he can be expected to be seen in a Saints shirt, the strange thing being that he hasn't even picked up one for the usual publicity shots. "He looks comfortable on the ball and he has an amazing physique," continued Vestergaard. "He's generally a nice guy, quiet for now but that is always quite common as a new player so maybe he is just saving up his words for later. "His English is better than I expected and he understands everything, he speaks really well." "He is a big talent and he has a lot of years ahead of him," So there you have it apparently Salisu is fitting in with his team mates and they are impressed with his talents, but we the fans still no virtually nothing. The so called "other issues" hinted at by the manager in earlier interviews have created more questions than they have answered, are they purely injury issues or is there something else that is causing those issues off the field. Of late the Saints PR department has improved a lot since lockdown, but on this one it is deathly quiet and that is worrying in itself. The fans should be told something even if it is just the usual PR guff. Photo: Action Images Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
