Moussa Djenepo Target For Turkish Giants
Friday, 28th May 2021 11:05

Ralph Hasenhuttl has already said that he is looking to offload some of his underperforming stars in the summer transfer window, but his main problem will be offloading them on a permanent basis, loan signings could feature heavily for all clubs this summer.

Media reports in Turkey are suggesting that Moussa Djenepo is a target for Fenerbahce, but it is unlikely to be a permanent move due to his wages.

This will be a recurring theme for Saints and indeed many clubs in the Premier League who are unable to offload those deemed surplus to requirements due to the wages paid in the Premier League being out of reach of most other clubs be they in the Championship in England or indeed the top flights of other European countries.

That means it is usually only about saving money on wages as we have found over the past few years with the likes of Mario Lemina and Fraser Forster being unable to be sold permanently .

According to Turkish newspaper Posta (via Sport Witness), According to Turkish newspaper Posta (via Sport Witness), Fenerbahce are keen on bringing in the 22-year-old this summer, with manager Emre Belozoglu having reportedly asked the board to try and sign Djenepo.

Although the report suggests that a permanent move this summer would be unlikely due to Fenerbahce’s financial situation, an impressive loan spell could see them sign him on a permanent basis in the future, or increase the chances of another club paying a fee to prise him away from St Mary’s.

Djenepo has shown occasional flashes of brilliance in his time at Saints but has fallen behind in the pecking order to Nathan Tella and with Saints having a plethora of wide men, he is one who they might be willing to offers on.

I would keep him and get rid of Redmond.

Think he is worth persevering with.
Spend £30 mill and you get the finished article.
Spend 12-15 you may have to wait a season or two.
he has a good attitude to go with his talent - he will be ok..

Completely agree. He has tried his heart out in recent games, been kicked off the park and still doesn't get a regular start in front of the floundering and under-performing Redmond.

100% agree with the comments - he has a good attitude and is still young. Also, he brings some excitement to games. I'm afraid Redmond is a busted flush - at least for Saints.

Yep - agree with all so far. He is not the first on my 'get rid' list.

Definitely more promise than Redmond and Minamino. Mane took a while the settle and to be honest Ralph hasn’t exactly been playing to his strengths. Always seems to be giving his all unlike Redmond who seems to think he’s a genius and too good to put in a proper shift.

Hope he proves me wrong, but does not look anywhere near good enough to me. Just a faster Boufal!!!!

He was immense against Liverpool, the only decent team we beat this year. Needs a run in the side without injury and he'll develop well.

It is time for him to play elsewhere as he has been a big disappointment. Far too many matches he didn’t turn up. Yes he had the rare good game, but for someone who is supposed to be an attacking player, spent far too much time passing backwards and not attacking defences. A very frustrating player in the Boufal mould

Poor signing let him go! We continue to sign players from third rate leagues & maybe could look closer to home! League one & two are a better standard than some of those we look strongly towards!

I'd keep him. Think he has a lot of potential still and yes, he has not exactly been played where he would probably like to be.

What is the point on declaring our intent to sign 12 million pound players, make them better and then ship them out on loan? I'd be very surprised if there was any truth to this, would make all at Saints look a bit stupid. As others have mentioned I would also much rather we got rid of Redmond - both for our sake and for the player's sake

Eddie Howe turning down the Celtic job might get the tongues of conspiracy theorists wagging....

Get rid of Toblerone footed Redmond. Keep Djenepo. Good squad player at worst and should be able to perform against the Brentfords and Norwiches.

If he does go to Turkey (?) - it should be on loan. I also agree that there is more in Djenepo than we have seen so far and a good season at another level may be the making of him.
