Southampton Linked With Chelsea Youngster
Friday, 16th Jul 2021 10:43

A few seasons ago due to a transfer ban being imposed Chelsea seemed to invest in their Academy squad, but with that ban long over and the club looking to regain former glories after their Champions League win, it seems that the youth is being pushed out of the door, could Saints benefit.

It seems that the deal for Brandon Williams is dead in the water after Manchester United not only wanted us to pay his £65 k a week wages but also a £2 million loan fee, peanuts to the spawn of the Devil club, but a fair chunk all added up for Saints.

Now it seems Saints could be looking at Chelsea's academy to bolster the squad for next season.

Reports from the capital suggest that Chelsea are ready to spend big again this summer and that many of their promising academy players feel that the path to the first team that has opened up in recent years is not closed again.

Marc Guihi who was linked with Saints is about to join Crystal Palace for £20 million despite never having played in the Premier League and it seems several others of those who are rising through the ranks see their careers stagnating unless they leave Stamford bridge.

Saints are said to be interested alongside Aston Villa in right back Tino Livramento, who was voted Chelsea academy player of the season in 2020/21.

The 18 year old is yet to play a first team game of any sort for the Blues, although he did make the bench on a couple of occasions, his path to the first team is blocked in both positions he is able to play, Right back and also right midfield.

He seems to be a talent and he could be just the sort of player Saints could do with on a season long loan, although he would not be an automatic choice he would be a lot nearer our first team than Chelsea's and his versatility on the right hand side would offer Ralph Hasenhuttl options to cover both Kyle Walker Peters at right back but also as a more attacking option.

The lad has nothing to lose, he is surely a tad closer to first team games with Saints than he will ever be for Chelsea.
