Following on from the pre season trip and game against Klagenfurt, Saints have announced a home friendly against Champions League opposition for the Saturday before the Premier League season starts.

Saints will host Spanish side Villarreal at St Mary’s

The fixture against former Arsenal manager Unai Emery’s team will take place on Saturday, July 30 and is likely to be the final pre season game before they start the Premier League season the following weekend.

Villarreal where beaten semi finalists in the Champions League, losing out to Liverpool .

Fixtures for the season will be announced at 9am next Thursday (16th June) morning
