Premier League Fixtures Due Out This Week
Monday, 13th Jun 2022 08:41

Its all gone quiet in the transfer market with thousands of rumours but little actual action, as players now wait till the end of June and their contractual bonus's to be paid, but there is one bit of excitement this week with the fixtures due to be released.

Football fans who go to the games live in limbo for around four weeks of the year, when the season ends they suddenly can't plan anything in their lives from August onwards until they know where their team will be playing on any given weekend.

For those that support teams in the Premier League even the release of the fixtures doesn't allow full planning due to the constant changes in the fixture list for TV and some at short notice.

But on Thursday of this week we will all be able to get some sort of clarity back in our lives for at 9am the Premier League will release it's fixture list and we all know roughly what we will be able to do over the next 11 months, whether we will have friends over on Boxing Day or be at St Mary's, whether we will have to take it easy on New Years Day due to a home game the following day.

Holidays will be booked for August to tie in with not missing home games and wedding invitations accepted etc.

Social Media will suddenly have something concrete to talk about, instead of baseless rumours where every player is linked with and sure to sign with at least four clubs, we can actually discuss whether Saints will struggle early doors and whether we have an easy run in come May.

We will look for key fixtures in the calendar, when do we play the big clubs at home, when are all the popular short away trips occurring.

So put this date in your calendar, Thursday morning 16th June 9am is where we all get our lives back.

Nick, if getting my life back involves another season of watching McCarthy, Stephens, Long etc then I can honestly say the fixtures won't be disrupting my social calendar too much. Despite the nauseating wait for poverty stricken players to pick up their loyalty bonuses and the inevitable cards being played close to the club chest concerning potential signings we need to see some real ambition from the club before getting enthused by another potential 9-0 defeat.

Almost the best part of the season for me, away games, working out if its worth an overnight stay or there and back. Always on the train, so much more fun. Better atmosphere at away games, even if the football sometimes spoils it.
St Mary's is a bit quiet and we all know the reason why! Need to get the away fans out of our end!!
Anyway bring it on EPL and I'll see you all soon! (not too many short notice changes
please?)
