Southampton Make "Official Move" For Armando Broja Tuesday, 5th Jul 2022 22:39 According to latest media sources Saints have contacted Chelsea with a firm offer for Armando Broja to join them on a permanent deal, this has several interesting points as to why Southampton should make a bid when up against Everton & West ham Over the last week or so Everton & West Ham have been considered favourites for the signing of Armado Broja from Chelsea, but tonight a a media source has claimed that Saints have made an official approach to the Stamford Bridge club. The general feeling is that when up against The Toffee's and the Hammers, Saints would stand little chance, but it if they have made a concrete offer to Chelsea then it is interesting to consider why they would do so if this deal was dead in the water for the club. Most transfer deals are done behind the scenes, with the players agent speaking to interested parties and sorting the wheat from the chafe, at this stage clubs usually find out whether the player is interested in the move or not, if the answer is not, then there is no point of putting in bids etc. So the first thing we could surmise is that if Saints have made an offer, then Broja must be interested in a return to St Mary's. But it may be a little more than whether the player wants it or not, reports suggest that Chelsea are still on the fence about Broja, although prices quoted for him on a permanent move have been as high as £50 million, Everton for instance only got £10 million more than that for Richarlison a player with more experience and a proven Premier League track record. Chelsea want big money but they are unlikely to get it, truth is that Broja's poor end to the season at Southampton reduced his value and Chelsea may be now changing tack and looking at another loan deal before they make their mind up to keep him or sell him If it is loan then they would not want to loan him to clubs who they would see as potential rivals, so that would rule out the Hammers and although the Chelsea link with Frank Lampard is strong, Everton would be unlikely to take him on loan and also unlikely to want to pay out a large chunk of Richarlison's transfer fee. So if Saints have put in a bid then they would surely have spoken to Chelsea first to see if it was a goer. If these reports are true, then perhaps Armando Broja could return to St Mary's, but I truly do not think it will be a permanent deal, I think Broja will be reluctant to cut ties with Chelsea and would prefer another loan spell and that being the case he needs to play every week and Saints could once again fit the bill.
