Saints Give Update On Season Ticket Situation
Monday, 8th Aug 2022 15:00

Once again Southampton Football Club have been less than efficient when it comes to sending out tickets to their supporters, for the Spurs game, many supporters didn't receive their tickets until 3 days before the game and now with the first home game looming some haven't had season tickets yet.

Last season saw big problems at St Mary's with season tickets being firstly delivered late and secondly then not working at the turnstiles meaning many fans missed a large chunk of the first half as chaos reigned.

You would hope that lessons would be learned, but that has not proved to be the case with firstly tickets for the tip to Spurs not being received by supporters till the 5 days before the game with some fans not getting theirs till Thursday.

That was despite the tickets actually selling out just under 4 weeks before the game taking place, this happens on too much of a regular basis for it to be the fault of the home club for sending the tickets late every time.

It also seems that there is season ticket chaos again, to get a discount those renewing their season tickets who will be the majority of the season ticket holders for 2022/23 season had to renew their tickets by 31st May, yet the first season ticket to be received was over two months later on 3rd August and some have still not received their tickets.

The club have at least been a bit more proactive this season, and they have issued the following statement regarding the sending out of season tickets.

With St Mary’s Stadium set to host its first Premier League fixture of the season on Saturday, Southampton Football Club would like to provide an update to supporters regarding Season Ticket delivery.

All Season Tickets purchased before Monday 15th July were dispatched during the week commencing 25th July and should now be with you. If you have not received these, please contact us by e-mailing tickets@saintsfc.co.uk or by calling the Ticket Office on 02381 780 780.

Any Season Tickets purchased between 15th-31st July have been sent this week and, if not already received, should be with supporters over the next few days.

Season Tickets purchased after 31st July are being sent on a daily basis and will continue to be dispatched until Monday 8th August.

After this, any Season Ticket purchases should be collected from the Ticket Office ahead of the first match against Leeds.

We thank everyone for their continued support and look forward to seeing you at St Mary’s next week.

Season Tickets are still available for purchase from £399 for Adults, and £19 for Juniors.

Yeah... They don't learn any lessons at the club judging by the last few years, hence we've been overtaken by the likes of Bournemouth, Brighton and Brentford, whom we are apparently unable to compete with, lol. We're run by average business people who employ yes men and have no interest in the club or the fans. The new ownership has done nothing to suggest any different.

Well, it won’t be a week before the start of the season without the now almost mandatory Saints commercial cock up would it?

Not that long ago it was attempting to sell shirts which didn’t exist for retail at the time. Last season it was a problem with issuing season tickets and their use at the turnstiles. Now a season ticket problem surfaces again.

A mere drop in a bucket by comparison I appreciate, however because of mobility problems I’ve paid the club £260 for a match day car parking space. Four days before the opening home game of the season and I’m still not in receipt of a pass to obtain access to my allotted space.

Colburn sums it up brilliantly above. To me, it’s now just as though the club’s owners and management regard us fans as a barrier to their progress. I’m beginning to think that they would be happier playing the matches behind closed doors to avoid the necessity of dealing with us.

TBH saintmark1976 with some of Ralph's team selections and tactics, I'd be happy for games to be played behind closed doors 😊

Nick, some of your reporting is incorrect and seems a bit panic spreading when it’s not needed. You say the first season tickets weren’t received until 3 August despite being renewed before 31 May discount deadline. I renewed my ST in May and received it on 28 July as per the club statement. I appreciate I may be a lucky exception although there are no suggestions in your article that this isn’t also the experience of the majority of fans. In addition you point to this being some 2 months after renewing for some fans but why exactly does that make a difference as we don’t need the ST until this coming Saturday.

The club statement seems reasonable I.e most fans will already have their ST and only those who have recently purchased one will potentially still be waiting up to this week.

I can’t comment on the parking tickets and hopefully SaintMark will receive his ahead of Saturday.

I don’t disagree that the club have made some errors with the commercial side in recent years, not least last seasons ST debacle. But, assuming the club statement is accurate , the ST position this season hardly suggests the chaos you have suggested.
