Injury News Not Great For Southampton Ahead of Crystal Palace Game.
Friday, 14th Apr 2023 14:39

There is little good news for Saints as they prepare for their do or die game against the Eagles at St Mary's on Saturday afternoon, but hopefully this will spur those with the chance to shine to do so.

Che Adams is once again set to miss out with the injury suffered on International duty with Scotland, although it is still unclear just what that injury was,

Also still out is Mohammed Salisu although Ruben Selles has cleared up that mystery saying: :
"He had some problems in some of the games for us, for example at Chelsea, and then he went with the national team and felt it again.

"When he came back we needed to put him into the injury process and he was expected also today to play for the B team to get the injury problem resolved if it was good, but he didn’t feel great so is not available either.

"It’s related to his hip abductor. He had problems before during the season and it just got worse so they are trying to treat that."

Another man set to miss the game is Mislav Orsic, he too has a problem with his hip and is unlikely to be in the squad.

Juan Larios is of course out for the season, but there is good news on a man who is yet to kick a ball in anger this season, Tino Livramento will feature for the B team tonight (Friday ) and all being well will be back into first team contention next week, although I don't think they will risk ruching him back for the Arsenal game.

Although missing five players doesn't sound too great, the reality is that with the exception of Che Adams none of them have been in first team contention since Ruben Selles took over so from that perspective won't be missed as much as you might think.

Work rate over creativity is the current Saints mission statement & yet you still wonder where the crowds are!

Watching this match, I have to wonder if they're actually ALL injured. This has all the urgency of a preseason friendly. No one seems bothered.
