Charly Alcaraz was one of the few highlights of the final months of the relegation season from the Premier League, however it became clear that the Championship wasn't suited to his style of play and he went out on loan, but he seemingly wants to be at St Mary's in 2024/25.

givemesport.co are claiming that Charly Alcaraz wants to stay at Southampton for the coming season.

They are basing their claim on a report from The Athletic stating that the Saints player has told club chiefs that he intends to stay on the south coast following his loan spell at Italian giants Juventus last season.

The loan spell in Italy didn't go to well and Juventus decided not to activate his buy out clause of £40 million and Charly is said to want another crack at the premier League.

The report says that the player is highly thought of by Russell Martin and the St Mary's hierarchy, and having returned to pre-season last week he is keen to impress and make sure he is part of the plans for the return to the Premier League next month.

Charley is a far better player and alongside Ings or another top striker must be the solution. Playing him alongside Che is a part of his loan to Juventus. He needs someone who can hold a ball, make a pass to split the oppositions defence and allow him to score more often.Now is the time to settle him into the team and allow him to show the class act he is. Saidou added 15:38 - Jul 16 Most people won’t agree with me on this but we are short on forward players. It’s the lack of quality upfront that got us relegated in the first place. But somehow we still think we are okay because we have Mara and Edozie. Armstrong has just proven to us all that he is only good for the championship. Who else do we have? Charlie was one a few bright sparks we had in that relegated season. It’s why a gigantic club like Juve went for him.My verdict is Keep him. Build a frontline suited to his style. Then thank ourselves later for keeping hold of him.

davidargyll added 17:25 - Jul 16 Like Broja, Charlie A from time to time was drop-jawingly amazing, but for whatever reason didn’t or couldn’t turn it on enough. So yes Saidou I agree with you that he was a bright spark - but I must correct you on one thing, that is the reason why any team gets relegated is not the lack of goals scored but the huge number the defence lets in that causes it, period. But re CA, I think him coming back is potentially very exciting: he’s a year older, more experienced and joining a team on the up, so fingers crossed he can outfox a few defences in the PL.

DellBoyWally added 18:08 - Jul 16 As with Tall Paul, it's often the manager that doesn't know how to utilise something a bit different (Le Tiss and England?) Tall Paul scored for fun before and after arriving but was wrongly used here. I only ever saw one high cross to his head in any game, 20 yards out. OK he hit the post! He has a thunderous shot (saw him play 3 times in Turkey) Used properly he'd light up the PL (Crouch?) Carlos Alcaraz, apart from winning Wimbledon, offers something different. He needs that striker (EvertonSaint's cooment) who can feed him on the burst. Maybe Ross Stewart is the man??
