Gus fined for Pompey outburst Tuesday, 23rd Oct 2007 07:52 Leeds United assistant boss Gus Poyet has been fined £1,500 for comments he made about Andy D'Urso. Gus was seething after Leeds crashed out of the Carling Cup in August, going down 2-0 at Pompey. Gus claimed that the Essex ref had a personal vendetta against him and Dennis Wise, which goes back to the days when they both played for Chelsea and were both sent-off by D'Urso. At the time, Gus fumed: "I don't want to see Andy D'Urso at a Leeds match again. "He cannot forget what he did to Dennis (Wise) and me as players and it has continued into management." A disciplinary hearing rejected Gus's "not guilty" plea to a disrepute charge last week and must pay £1,500. The FA Regulatory Committee also warned Gus about his future conduct. Ironically, it will probably make him even more of a hero in the eyes of many Leeds fans as it underlines the passion and care he and Wise have instilled into the players during the past three months or so - something which has been woefully absent in recent memory.
