Play Offs hopes given boost by Rotherham administration
Play Offs hopes given boost by Rotherham administration

Dale's hopes of making the Play Offs were given a massive boost on Tuesday with the news that Rotherham are to be docked ten points by the Football League for entering administration.

The decision came late on Tuesday afternoon, after a couple of weeks of being in the pipeline. Rotherham managed to obtain a two week extension on 3rd March, followed by a further 24 hour extension on Monday of this week.

Whilst the points deduction is still not being shown in many of the League tables, it is a matter of time, and this decision will move Dale up into 8th place, just one point away from the Play Offs with three matches in hand on the next side Chesterfield.

Entering administration has not ruled Rotherham out of making the Play Offs, but their chances of making the top seven have been hit a severe blow and they would need to perform at Championship winning form for the remainder of the season to finish in seventh place.
