Dagnal admits to Scunny interest

For the first time, Chris Dagnall has admitted his interest in a move to Championship side Scunthorpe United.

This is another story that has floated around the rumour mill for the last week or so as it seems half the world is showing interest in our players. But this is the first time that the story has gone beyond just rumours, with actual quotes from Daggers himself backing it up. The out of contract striker has met with Scunthorpe, and has discussed the move with the Scunthorpe Telegraph. He told them: "I came over for talks, but it was just a general first meeting to see what my ideas are and what the club's ideas are. It was a good chat, I was happy enough with how it went.

"I've had a couple of phone calls from other clubs, but I haven't had any meetings with anyone else. But at this moment in time, my main choice would be Scunthorpe. That is my number one.

"I'm impressed by how they've done in the last couple of years and it's flattering for me to have a club like Scunthorpe showing interest in me.

"I just want to play at the highest level I can play and Scunthorpe are in the Championship, which is a pretty high level. It's a big step up if I do get the chance to go there, but I'm sure it would be a good move for me."

Dagnall joined Dale in January 2006 and has scored sixty goals during his time with Dale.
