Connolly Signs For Another Season
Connolly Signs For Another Season
Tuesday, 6th Jul 2010 09:18

David Connolly has agreed a new contract for the 2010/11 season and that will be good news for Saints supporters.

The striker who turned 33 last month will hopefully avoid injury and again weigh in with some vital goals.

In a 13 game spell after his arrival in October Connolly hit 6 goals but more importantly added a different dimension to Saints forward play in that he thrived on through balls which offered Saints a chance to play through the channels, but after picking up a groin injury in December he would not figure again till March, meaning his burst of games late in the season were all cameo roles off the bench till he made the starting line up against Gillingham and scored, finishing in a starting position for the final game against Southend United.

This now gives Alan Pardew three good options up front although and especially with Connolly's injury record he could do with a fourth.
