‘Dale as part of a multi-club model? 12:24 - Jan 27 with 6579 viewsIOMDale

Forgive me if this has previously been mentioned but it’s the first I’ve heard of potential involvement in a multi-club model, similar to the City Group. To be honest, I think this could be the way forward for a club like ours as we get to retain our identity but also have access to facilities and structures that we’d otherwise never afford:

I suppose it boils down to "who" and "how much".
If an investor, be it a lone investor or a foreign club, wants to put in say £5m or £6m or more over time, then there would be absolutely no option but to consider it very carefully. An individual might be fine if they are a genuine football fan maybe with ties to the area.

But another football entity that understands what is required to make us successful and has the clout to send us some players, build a proper training facility and help with other aspects of running the club would be a different level of prospect altogether. You could imagine different coaching opportunities, friendly games, youth player exchanges, a wider net for finding new managers, pre season trips to warmer places, bigger marketing opportunities etc. Such an investment would be peanuts for some of the bigger clubs but huge for our club, a single player going directly from Rochdale to the Premiership or overseas equivalent would be an instant repayment of their investment, as would be a single promotion for Rochdale.

Maybe Simon's conversations are further on than we imagine, and he is warming us up to the possibility....testing the water in the fan and shareholder base? Interesting times indeed.

We must have already identified new training facilities and started using them as we seem to have left redbrook. Should probably have told the Sports Club they were leaving though

Thought we were using other facilities due to the weather. Presumably there will be a contract with the Sports Club.

No. Up't and left. Sports club found out by rumour that they had gone. Had to ask them if they had left and was confirmed by email. Sports club are extremely unhappy about this

If true that is very poor form by the football club. There are 2 sides to every story.

Poll: What is it to be then?

Although it wasn’t perfect, that facility has been used for quite a long time now and was deemed ok by various regimes as we were utilising other areas as well as the pitch.

Surely it will have been contracted and even if it’s not being used then wouldn’t that still be in place?

Perfect time for the club to communicate their side . Silence will only lead to rumours.

I understand there was only ever a letter agreeing that the football club would maintain the pitches in return for using them when they were not needed by the Lacrosse club, mainly Saturdays. No money has ever been involved as payment.
Following " events" over the New Year, the Lacrosse club has been less than amused at the attitude of some of the football club coaches, so I dont expect the Lacrosse club will be particularly upset that RAFC have moved on.
A bit rude not to even say thankyou though. But then you kind of get the idea sometimes that there is an "attitude" at the football club which isnt designed to win friends and influence people.

But reading the link above - we weren’t just using the pitches.

The football club were still using all the facilities not just the pitches. This has put a lot of bad feeling between especially the cricket club that has many supporters if the football club and the Dale.
