The story is Marciano had knocked out his previous 6 opponents, if so how many bouts had Marciano had before that ? also I'm sure I seen it that it was only Dr Jack's 4th ever bout and that he didn't tell his parents and didn't continue as he was only helping out his branch of the military.

Before that he was probably a tough hombre with a rep.He took boxing seriously when he returned to the states . Fact is when he turned professional he beat everyone he came up against . Not many stayed vertical . Every punch he threw was a potential ko punch . Thats why his training programme was so intense .It takes tremendous stamina to load every punch to the maximum . You can say he fought stiffs but you can only beat whats in front of you - he never ducked anyone. Archie Moore was a very good boxer was koed by Marciano . Archie Moore was past his best when he fought Ali but he wasn't when he fought Marciano . Jersey Joe another alltime great koed.49 and 0 never been done before or since and he doesnt even make some peoples top 10 . | | | |

The young Tyson definitely in there. As I said he could have been top two if he'd stayed on the straight and narrow. He came back after his prison sentence still a top fighter but maybe not quite as good. Lewis, Holyfield.and Bowe were gaining prominence .personally think the early twenties Tyson would have beaten Holyfield. Lewis was not ready for Tyson at that particular time. | | | |

The young Tyson was phenomenal. I really don't think in the early years before the birds and booze anybody could touch him. Except in my opinion the early version Cassius Clay or the later Ali. Because Ali was probably the most intelligent heavy weight ever. He could move, keep out of trouble jab and hit. Also look at Alis two wins over Frazier who was a pocket rocket similar to Tyson. His win over Foreman even more incredible. But he struggled with Norton but every fighter has a nemesis.
Holyfield was a great fighter but a lot of pundits think he was juiced up and Lennox in my mind kicked his butt twice. | | | |

Beat Holyfield twice and apart from one split decision defeat defeat never came close to losing and he was fighting 18 stone guys not 13st guys like past so called greats were, and yes i also believe he avoided Lewis for what ever reasons but i have Lewis in my top 4 instead of Bowe so them not fighting is not relevant to me in that regard. | | | |
