Apologies Durham for the preemptive strike, but this really needs to be broadcasted as soon as possible. With still two days to go, the South Stand is completely sold out, and E5 through to E8, and W3 and W4 as well, are already close to a sell-out. If you haven't got your ticket, book as soon as possible!

Incredible support already, and with Grimsby reportedly bringing in the region of 500+ (according to their predictions) it looks like it's going to be a bumper crowd for the Friday night game.

Our best ever at the JobServe for a Friday night league game was 5,461 for John McGreal's March 2018 2-1 win over Luton Town. We look like we'll be challenging that on Friday.

I know I am unwell but I am angry about this result.

Flanagan scored a perfectly good goal.which was incorrectly disallowed and then we conceded at a critical time.

This result hurts more than the Bradford one.

We need Samson back and Teddy in midfield.

Some of the players look tired perhaps the effort over the 13 unbeaten games has taken a lot out of them

Well the team have a few extra hours to recover before Gillingham on Tuesday in what will be Ainsworth's second match in charge and his first at home. 2025 started with two defeats in the league before the team put it behind them and got back on track. Let's hope The U's train is safely on the rails at The Priestfield Stadium.

The statistics don’t lie. We piddle around with 30% more sideways and backwards passes yet get out-muscled, dispossessed and embarrassed by the patently fitter and better side. Macey saved us from another Bradford like drubbing, Same basic errors that blighted the early part of our season.

Frankly, I think we should be content with a top half finish. We are nowhere near ready for promotion. I would sooner build from here rather than mirror what Ipswich fans have encountered from over promotion. Losing every week is no fun, and don’t we know it from the last 17 seasons.

I don't think Colchester will be promoted this season but if they were I'd back the Cowleys to avoid relegation next. There's a real problem for promoted teams bridging the gap between Championship and Premier League. There is not the same chasm between Leagues One and Two especially with Danny and Nicky at the helm.

6,986 tonight. Shame we couldn't have found another 14 from somewhere.

I thought DC left it too late with some of the substitutions, as Thorn and Scully looked lively but had little time to make the difference.

Not really Flanagan's fault, he was undone by a massive bobble from our shocking pitch which bounced up and hit him on the knee. Not quite a Blackburn moment, but the end result was the same. At least we only have three more games to go playing on it before nature takes control and allows some grass to grow, but it's still cutting up really badly - even the referee had to replace a divot at one point.

As for the game, I thought that was for the most part a reasonably entertaining match, but honestly Grimsby edged it. Still 21 points to play for though.

Not sure I agree with that - it's obvious that care needs to be taken on our pitch, and Flanagan basically screwed up and gave the goal away. He has been prone to the odd catastrophic error throughout the season, though to be fair this was the first for quite a while.

Happy to hold my hand up if I’m wrong, but the replay(s) clearly seemed to show it bounce up right in front of him.

You're not wrong, it literally bounces up right in front of him and hits him on the knee. I'd question more what was Egbo doing as he retreated into no-man's land leaving the goal scorer with a much more straightforward chance.

Failed to progress after an excellent finish by Edward’s for the equaliser. Give credit to the visitors who were positive going forward in numbers and Macey was far the busier keeper thereafter. Subs were they on the touch line far too long before getting on.
Had been a great run to get into this position, but now draws are not enough to keep in the mix.

I think you're right. Seeing it from where I was sitting last night it looked like a very clumsy first touch, but on the lowlights package it was a truly horrible bobble just as the ball reached Flanagan. The square pass from Kelleher probably wasn't the best option but that's how they tend to play. Given the state of the pitch maybe they need to eliminate that type of pass and just get it forward quickly.
