Did VAR mess up on Friday? 00:03 - Sep 19 with 1577 viewsElijahK

Just seen quite a few responses on Nicks verdicts article for the Villa game, and seen that many are saying that VAR messed up for their goal and the supposed offside incident.
So I was just wondering of how many of you guys thought they did and of why that was (and this is me just genuinely interested in seeing how many react and as to why they think they messed up).

I’m all for giving the attacking team the benefit of doubt as long as it’s reciprocated. It seems like with the handball decisions we get punished but not rewarded for the same thing at the other end.

Villa at home the season before last was one of the worst var decisions.

The Villa game 2 years ago was the pits disgusting use of VAR but Friday I thought it was the right decision but I don’t know the rules so maybe it wasn’t

But does the ball not hitting Salisu, Bazunu or the bar effect that? Or do you think that it doesn’t count for a certain reason (and btw I’m not being cocky or such as I just am genuinely wondering as to what many fan know about the new offside laws edits)

What is it that happened in that game again?
But in all fairness to those handball decisions and VAR, in the past I’ve defended the refs decisions to not give that handball incidents to us, and agreed that they weren’t penalties. But after seeing the two that have been given against Bournemouth recently I do wonder as to whether they messed up in those games or if it was our ones they messed up in.
As I love it how the pundits love to criticise VAR whenever they can, saying how inconsistent etc it is, but they themselves are no better as the handballs in those Bournemouth games were very similar to that of in our ones, yet after each game they’ve agreed that VAR got it right, which is them being just as bad!

VAR is not a robot so can I assume you’re talking about the VAR official’s judgement or indications? So it’s human inconsistency that’s the problem yet again?

Yeah basically, although it’s not just VAR but also the on field officials for making their decisions after seeing it.
As like I said before, I’ve previously defended the officials over the handball incidents we’ve had, but now that I keep seeing loads given against others but not for us, I am really starting to wonder of who is the one in the right or wrong!? As I get it’s opinionated and such, but at the same time for the more blatant ones there needs to be some form of consistency
