I understand the anger and frustration but would say that you have the wrong target. We have few players who would grace a mid table PL side regularly. Perhaps JWP, KWP only. We have few players who in a season or two would easily do that. Lavia, ABK, Salisu, Alcaraz, We have some players who either never were the right quality or who have lost form or become unwilling to play in a system and for a manager which is not working. Adams, Armstrong (both), Ely, Perraud. And we have some who are in the team - or not - for baffling reasons. Walcott, Orsic. Tall Paul, Sulemena, Bednarek. At the end of the day however, they are all professionals and are expected to give their all regardless of form, liking or disliking the manager/system, etc. At PL level, small margins mean a lot and the trouble comes when espirit de corps starts dropping and the chasing back becomes a little harder, a missed tackle means little, helping a team mate is not a priority because you know you're going to lose anyway.. Can you blame a player for that? Yes you can but you need to understand that a good chunk of blame needs to go higher up the chain to managers, coaching staff, club management and owners. Blaming individual players for a poor performance - yes but blaming them for lack of effort or ability or adherence to the plan is unfair. | |
