The Premier League restarts in a fortnights time.
Unless Man City’s punishment is announced and accepted by them ( both of which seem extremely unlikely) before the next schedule of matches, what will happen to their results going forward ? After all, it’s not as though the advantage they have gained over many seasons stops just because the F A have finally found them guilty is it ? Their advantage has been compounded over many seasons and I suggest lives on in the multi million pound team they have assembled that currently represents them.
Could we get to the almost farcical situation that other Premiership teams simply say that they don’t want to play against Man City because they currently have an unfair advantage in terms of the quality of their players they are still able to put out for them to have to play against ?
Given the wealth of Man City’s owners I can’t see that a financial penalty alone will have any effect whatsoever, so surely a points deduction or expulsion from the Premier League and Domestic Cup games are the only realistic options open to the F A ?
If this proves to be the case, then it needs to be done before another ball is kicked, otherwise the remainder of the Premier League and Domestic Cup season could well turn into a complete farce. [Post edited 26 Sep 16:41]
